Yeouido Park (여의도 한강공원) is open to visitors 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is located on Yeouido Island where many Koreans and foreigners frequently visit it for recreational activity, cultural events, or relaxing.

What to expect to see in the park:
The park is located along Han River, with a beautiful backdrop of the modern city skyline of Seoul, making it a breathtaking view at any time of the day. You can also see people partaking in water activity on the river, such as boats or paddleboards. When I visited the park, I was able to sit and listen to a Korean sing and play acoustic guitar. Though I was unable to understand exactly what he was saying, he was clearly talented.
Next, we sat and watched a male group of 8 dancers; perform various animated, story telling, dances. The male dancers were by far the most popular in the park, they also seemed to be pretty well known because there was a very, very large audience circled around them. When the dancers had finished the fun was already set. At around 7:30pm, there was a small but short firework show presented by a Hanyang rofessor.
One of the most interesting things to me about Yeouido Park is the way that local Koreans utilize the area. There is a large glass field and you see many Koreans setting up tents on the field at many time of the day. It is then popular to lay inside or nearby the tent with a significant other and eating either a home cooked meal, local restaurants, and finally by having food delivered directly to you on the grass lawn.
Rental in Yeouido Park:
There are different activities that you are able to do at the cost of a low value of won.
- One-Person bicycles for rental use: 3,000 Won/hour
- Tandem bicycle for rental use: 6,000 Won/hour
- Roller blades or roller skates for rental use: 3,000 Won/hour
- Electric hoverboards for rental use: 10,000 Won/hour
Different Sections of Yeouido:
The park is divided into 5 different sections, all of which offer a different atmosphere and attractions for visitors to enjoy. First, there is the Traditional Korean Forest section, which has a pond, a traditional pavilion, and a trail walk where there are only traditional Korean trees, planted. Next, there is Grass Square, this is where you will find many people laying out on towels in the sun or having picnics because there is a low hill and a grass field. Also, you will find multiple trails off the Grass Square area. Cultural Square is where the most performances and events take place, such as the ones I presented earlier in the article. Finally, Nature’s Ecosystem Forest which offers visitors the opportunity to observe nature and different living species. Additionally, it is made up of a swamp area, waterline area, grass area, and a forest.
