Notable Celebrities-Alumni from HYU

This week, I am going to introduce some of the notable alumni celebrities from Hanyang University to you. First of all, let me introduce two recent grads from Hanyang University, Jang Geun Suk and Jung Il Woo.

Jang Geun Suk

Jang Geun Suk is a popular singer and actor all across Asia for his good looks. To teenagers he is an Asian standard of what handsome means. He first gained popularity with the drama series “You’re beautiful”, which is a story about four boys. In this drama one of the boys disappeared and was replaced by a girl for the time being. However, one of my favorites of Jang’s drama is “Love Rain” (Sarang Bi in Korean) in which he co-starred with Yoona from Girl’s Generations. It is an overall romantic story that can warm your heart with romantic feelings. Love is not in the air. Love in in the rain. Yes, it is. If you want to feel it, try to listen to this song.

Jung Il Woo

I hate to admit it, but I am jealous of his appearance. He became every lady’s “Oppa” (a term used for handsome guys) through the drama series “49 days”. It is a fantasy drama in which the main actress was involved in an accident, and would be revived if she were able to make three men shed genuine tears for her (sounds unbelievable, right? But you have to bear it, it’s a Korean drama). Jung Il woo starred as a scheduler to arrange everything for that girl in this series. For more information on this drama, check out this link. He is also well-known for his High Kick series which is very fun to watch. I just saw a fan-made video of Jung Il Woo’s photos combined with background music by Avril Lavigne – Wish you were here. It’s a weird choice of music, but it’s worth seeing if you want to see more of Jung Il Woo.

Lee Byung Hun

Lee Byung Hun is a Korean star who made it to Hollywood! I think he is considered the world standard of manly figure among Korean stars with his impressive muscles. Recently, he starred in Hollywood blockbusters, such as “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and “Red 2”. It is an honor to co-star with Hollywood actors like Channing Tatum and Bruce Willis. However, for Lee, such an action movie is not something that he is unfamiliar with. He is already renowned in South Korea for “Iris”, an action movie in which he co-starred with other superstars such as “Top” from Big Bang and Kim Tae Hee. Check this out to see this cool actor.

Lee Jung Jin

He is not a superstar like the actors above. In the famous Korean drama “Love story in Harvard” he is not even the main actor of the storyline. However, he is well known to Koreans and a talented actor who may will receive his big role in near future. Here is a short video of Lee’s action in “Love Story in Harvard”.
