What is JTBC anyways?

JTBC is a national cable TV network and a broadcasting company in South Korea. It is considered  the most favourite TV Channel by Koreans. “ Their platform and programs were fresh because ordinary Broadcast Station had never treated. ” Maybe you have heard about the controversy about the actual president of Korea, and if not, well tell yourself that it was JTBC reporters who have discovered what was going on. Since that JTBC have a good reporting ability because of some issues which are discussed these days in Korea. Their important evidence was able to be known all over the world.

How Did I Get a Tour inside JTBC ?

To participate in this JTBC Tour, there was an online form to fill out and only 15 foreign students will have the chance to participate. I was lucky since I was selected ( with the other 14 foreign participants ). So we had to go to a preparatory meeting to have the outline of this Tour.

So if you want to have a chance to explore JTBC’s buildings, you will have to choose between two options: the first ( the simplest and easiest ) is to go as a group organized like me, or well, the second is to make the steps yourself by calling the JTBC premises to have the necessary information for the tour guide.

During the preparatory meeting with the HYU Glitters business school club, we were provided with the following information to help us better understand the reputation of the company :

“JTBC is a comprehensive channel operator and comprehensive channel of Korea broadcasting on pay-per-view platforms. Founded on March 21, 2011, and opened on December 1, 2012. The company was established by investing in JooAng Ilbo, and the central media network is the major shareholder. The chairman of the Central Media Network is Hong Seok-hyun, the president is Kim Soo-gil, the vice president Hong Jung Do, and the President of the media division is Son Seok-hee. “

Where Is It (How Can I Get There ?)

The address is 48-6 Sangam-san Road, Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu (마포구 상암동 상암산로 48-6). If you want to travel here by subway, you have to stop at the DMC Station (Digital Media Central; 디지털미디어시티역) and then walk for approximately 5 to 7 minutes using maps such as Google Map or Naver (네이버).

What Can You Tell Us About Your Tour ?

First of all, we have been welcomed by members of JTBC staff. She showed us the room where the anchors sit down to present the program. She told us that the screen behind them represent ALL the city of Seoul. They have taken a panorama picture of the city to plug it into the wall. She also told us that the board on what was represented the picture of Seoul was not good when we look at it by our eyes because it was made up especially for the cameras. So if we take pictures with it, the picture on our phone will be very clear and beautiful. All of us tried it, and it was true !

After, she showed us a room stuffed with all popular programs. You can find in that room some pictures of Korean drama, Korean pop, Korean food, Korean comedy, and so on ! We then went to another room where she talked to us about some the policy of the company, who are the competitors, how advertising works, etc. It was the technical part of the Tour I would say. Finally, we have had the chance to talk with an anchor of JTBC, which was very interesting. At the end, it was a very funny and interesting Tour where we learned a lot !
