Café the Nora
I was in the Hongdae (홍대) and Sangsu (상수) area this weekend, and of course, I forgot my umbrella and it started to rain. To dodge the rain, I stumbled into the nearest café I saw, and to my delight it was one of the cutest cafes ever!
Café the Nora is an adorable café filled with colorful decorations and bright colors. There are plenty of tables, booths with window views of the street below and even a quiet secluded corner where you can sit on the floor. They have an extensive drinks menu, and even give you free lollipops!
Address: 362-7 Mapo-gu, Seogyo-dong, Seoul (2F of the building)
Directions: Take Line 2 to Hongik University Station or line 6 to Sangsu Station. From either stations, walk towards Hongik University. At the intersection facing the Hongik University entrance, go right and walk down the road for approximately 5 minutes and the building will be on your right. (A Café Gurunaru is right beside it)
Hoho Myoll (The Volkswagen Café)
Hoho Myoll has become my favorite café in Seoul! (So far.) Filled with countless cute decorations, trinkets, and notes, this café has a very cozy feel and I couldn’t stop taking pictures of every single nook and cranny!
From the second you enter the café doors, a mint blue Volkswagen greets you. Refurbished so that you can sip your coffee with friends inside the vehicle, the van is just one of the many charms of this café.
Fun Fact: For those Girls Generation fans or K-drama lovers out there, Love Rain, the drama starring Yoona and Jang Geon Suk, filmed a scene in this café!
The café also has a special star- a grey cat named Myoll who is well trained and will occasionally roam around the shop. The barista, Sam, also does beautiful latte art, and the drinks are served in the beautiful cups! Lastly, don’t forget to leave a note there! There are pens and paper provided if you want to write or draw something!
Address: 93-44 Mapo-gu, Sangsu-dong, Seoul
Directions: Take Line 2 to Hapjeong Station, transfer to line 6 and get off at Sangsu Station exit #2. Turn left and keep walking straight for around 3 minutes. Hoho Myoll is just past the Hollys Coffee on your right.
There’s a car situated right outside the door of the café so it’s hard to miss!
Capi Capi Loom Loom (Rilakkuma Café)
Lastly, the Rilakkuma themed café! This cute little café is filled with stuffed Rilakkuma toys to keep you company. The Japanese character is in every corner of the shop and you can even purchase some Rilakkuma goods here! The drinks are reasonably priced and the café is spacious and comfortable. Also be sure to bring your student ID card for 20% off!
Directions:
Capi Capi Loom is a 5 minute walk from the Sungshin Women’s University subway station.
Take Line 4 and get off at Sungshin Women’s University station, exit #1.
Once you step out of the station you should be able to spot a KB* Bank. Turn right just before the bank into a street lined with shops on both sides.
Walk straight straight until you see a Café Greenwich. Turn left at the Café Greenwich and walk straight. Capi Capi Loom Loom will be on your right.
