Yeounsu Koh
Feeling burnt out from all the assignments and exam prepping? Same.
When I need to recharge, I love heading over to Hannam-dong- it’s just a few subway stops away from Hanyang, but feels like a whole different world. The cherry blossoms are blooming, the cafes are aesthetic, and the food? Chef’s kiss.
Here are a few of my go-to spots for a chill stroll, study break, or a bite with friends:
Maxim Plant
A café that basically feels like a lifestyle magazine came to life. The space is wide, the sunlight pours in, and the tables are big enough for group projects or laptop days. I usually head here when I want to work with friends or just hang out in a place that make studying feel a little more Pinterest-worthy.

Hit Coffee Roasters
A lowkey café tucked into a quiet street. It’s cozy but popular, so you’ll see lots of people working solo or deep in conversation. If you’re a coconut fan, do not leave without trying the coconut latte- it’s smooth, creamy and just the right amount of sweet.
Pipe Ground
Minimalist, modern and very “I’m treating myself today.” This Western-style restaurant serves beautiful pasta, pizza, and risotto- all plated like they’re ready for Instagram. The vibe is quiet and relaxed, perfect for slow lunches or casual dinner dates. It’s one of those places where the food tastes as good as it looks, and trust me, that’s saying something.
Nari’s House
If you’re craving something hearty and comforting, this retro-style spot is for you. It’s known for its sizzling frozen samgyeopsal, and it never disappoints. Nothing fancy, but the flavors are solid and the prices are student-friendly. I like to come here after a long day when all I want is good food and laughter with friends.
So next time the campus grind starts to feel a little too real, hop on the subway and escape to Hannam-dong. It’s the perfect little reset: coffee, carbs, cherry blossoms- and good vibes guaranteed. Catch you there?
