Dawon
Hi, I am Dawon and today I would like to introduce you guys to the famous street foods you MUST have in winter. A lot of Koreans wait for winter to come to eat these snacks out on the streets. Personally, these street foods are one of the reasons why winter is my favorite season.
#1 Bungeoppang
Bungeoppang is a fish shaped bun with a red bean filling inside. Bunggeo means a type of fish in Korean but it has nothing to do with fish except for its shape. It is a hot, sweet, crispy bread. When you order one, most of the time they make it right away for you so you can enjoy them warm. Be careful since the filling inside is very hot. If you happen to not like red bean filling, there are other variations of Bungeoppang as well. Some of them have custard cream inside, and it is a popular subject of debate among Koreans, whether to choose custard cream or red bean filling. I recommend you guys to try both of them! Bungeoppang these days costs about 1000 won for three or two cakes. You are lucky if you find a store that sells 3 at 1000 won!

#2 Hotteok Hotteok is another type of dessert that is sold on the streets in winter. It is a type of pancake filled

with sugar filling and sometimes nuts and cinnamon as well. It has a crispy and chewy texture, and I think hotteok will be easier to try than Bungeoppang for foreigners. There are also a lot of variations for Hotteok as well, the most popular ones are Hotteok stuffed with cheese or those stuffed with seeds. They are often served in paper cups so you can hold the pancake without getting your hands covered with sugar and oil. Another fun of eating winter street foods is that you can see the whole cooking process. They are often cooked in a wide pan filled with oil and it is very interesting to watch while waiting for your food.
