Try spending your night at an One-Day-Pub!

Hi, I am Dawon and today I came to introduce you to an event called one day pub. If you are a university
student in Korea, you may have been invited to one of these events. It is a day where a group of students
rent a pub for a day and host the place for the night. They get in charge of decorating the place, taking
orders, serving food and holding events. Through running the pub for a day, they get to earn money.
Mostly, clubs or students of the same department host it, and the main purpose is to earn money and
create memories as a group. Most of the one-day pubs have a specific theme for the day. It could be
hip-hop, Halloween, valentines, and so on. The students dress up according to that dress code and act as
the servers. As to go with the theme, special mini events are hosted too. For example, if it’s a Halloween
one day pub, guests will play a Halloween theme game and earn some free drinks or treats. Another fun
of going to a one-day pub is sharing the table with new people. If there is a group of girls and boys, the
host usually tries to team them up and create a new table for them. That way, the pub sometimes gets
more hyped up and more guests come to visit. If you would like to visit one, you can go to Sinchon or
university spots like Hyehwa, Wangsimni. The hottest place for one day pubs is Sinchon since lots of
universities are gathered there like Yonsei, Ewha, Hongik, Sogang University. The club members come
out to the streets with posters to attract more visitors. I have an experience of hosting a one-day pub as
well and it was a very special memory. Although it was hard to actually run a pub by ourselves, it was
worth the hard work. The actual fun of the hosts starts when the pub is closed. After shutting down, the
club members enjoy their night at the pub by themselves drinking, playing games, and so on. Since it is
exclusively open to members for the night, they can have a crazier night by themselves. If you get a
chance to visit one, or host one, I recommend you guys to take the chance! It will be a special experience
either way.
