The Beauty of Film Pictures

Nadiah’s Article

Even though it is 2023, I still enjoy the old way of taking pictures, which is using film
cameras!
I have picked up this hobby for quite some time now and was heavily influenced by my
cousin. She had found our family’s old family film camera which was surprisingly still
working and played around with it and it was when she showed me the results, that I fell
in love with how the pictures came out.
What I love the most about taking film pictures is the surprise element to it because you
won’t know how your pictures look unless you get them developed! There’s also that
extra layer of nostalgia when it comes to the pictures that make it very sentimental in my
opinion.
However, it does come with some drawbacks. Trying to find a film camera is one thing,
but having to buy film, get it developed, and get the pictures scanned also makes it
quite an expensive hobby to pursue. Other than that, for beginners, it might take a while
for you to get used to the lighting and angles which means that your first tries will
always be a waste. But to me, it is worth every con it has.
Once you get the hang of it, the pictures that you take may be the most beautiful
pictures you will ever take. Unlike taking pictures with a phone, you tend to focus more
on the angle, lighting, and the overall outcome of the picture which helps bring out your
inner photographer!
I have attached some pictures I took with a film camera!
