A day out a Hyehwa

Dawon 2nd Article

Hi, I am Dawon and today I would like to share with you a day at Hyehwa. Hyehwa is one of my favourite
places to hang out with my friends. It is located at line 4 on the subway and it is near Sung Kyun kwan
university. It is not mentioned as a popular place as much as Seong su or Itaewon, but I like this area
since it is compact but diverse. Hyehwa is the place to go if you like watching plays. Most of the plays in
Korea have its roots in hyehwa and there are lots of plays performed every day. There are a lot of content
to enjoy other than theatre like escape rooms, board-game cafes, and cute restaurants and cafes. Today,
I will show you two places at Hyehwa I love the most.

# 1 Pasta market

It is an Italian restaurant that sells pasta, risotto, and pizza. The place is a little hidden between streets so
you will need to follow the map well. Since the area isn’t so big, you might have to wait a little when you
visit at meal times. The shrimp oil pasta is the most recommended item on the menu and I really want you
guys to try it out! The dish is really savoury and what is special about this place is that in every dish, there
is some ‘nurungji’ inside. Nurungji is a crust of overcooked rice and Koreans like it since it has a plain but
savoury taste with a crunchy texture. A mix of Korean food with Italian pasta goes along really well so
make sure you try it out!

# 2 Edition.M

Edition M is a newly opened Han-ok café. Since it is right next to the pasta market, it is good to enjoy the
two places as a course. The menu here is the same with a typical café but there is one

signature menu which is an oatmeal latte with an espresso cream on top. I could see most of the visitors
enjoying the signature coffee with desserts like shine musket cake or financiers. The area itself is a
remodelled 80-year-old building so you can feel the history through the Hanok buildings. There are lots of
seats outside the terrace so it would be best to visit on a fine day.
