5 Must-read personal finance books for non-book readers

Hemon Vongprachith

(Note: all recommendations are based on personal experiences. Reading requires in order)

1. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

You may wonder why I recommended this book even though it has nothing to do with business at all. Remember the title of this article, it is recommended for those who do not like reading which is better to start with this book and set the right mindset for the next one. Anyway “The Alchemist” is a fictional story set in the Middle East about a young ambitious boy searching for his treasure. This book contains a basic writing style, easy to understand and interpret. As you read, I recommend writing down quotes that you like from the author and trying to perform self-reflect.

2. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

The second that comes on the list is Rich Dad Poor Dad, the world-bestselling book about personal finance, money, and the real world.

You may have come across a “KOREAN” version of this

book as it is one of the most renowned books ever written. However, I do recommend the “ENGLISH” version of the book because there is more originality and more accurate terminology. Moreover, you will experience the true intention of the author, since it was written in an extremely simple English style. You will feel like you reading a book for an 8 year old kid. In fact, the content of this

book was once taught to an 8-year-old boy.

3. The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck by Mark Manson

Next up is the third book in the list. Once you have the idea of how the real world functions. Now it is time to build a strong mindset, mentally and physically healthy equals wealth. This book will guide you on how to focus and how to say no, people often think “There are many things to do yet so many hours. Well… that is not the case, people actually need to “FOCUS”. Always keep your personal values and principles high because it is human nature to judge. Moreover, try to be considerate as much as possible of what you have learned from your surroundings. This will help you to refine the knowledge that you need.

4. Unshakeable by Tony Robbin

As its name suggested how to become financially confident in

the real world. Once you have the right mindset and substantial

knowledge from Rich Dad Poor Dad. Tony Robbin is your next

mentor in your journey to prosperity. This book offered a semi-

intermediate level of personal finance and a more in-depth

actionable analysis. This piece of knowledge will transform you

into LE SSERAFIM aka “fearless” individual.

5. One Up On Wall Street by Peter Lynch

Last but not least, Congratulations! on making it this far,  always be proud of yourself. This is probably the last and the most crucial piece of advice from me. This book will deliver specific knowledge and the way how to pick the best stock for yourself. The best advisor you could listen to is yourself you choose what you believe it will skyrocket. Some may argue that investing in stocks is like gambling. It is only gambling when you do not know what you are investing in.
