The ‘Pizza Drone Delivery Service’, which allows you to receive pizza delivered by drone, will start on August 22 in Sejong City. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) announced that they will start their service through collaboration with a domestic drone company ‘Pilot Square (P-Square)’ and a pizza chain company ‘Domino’s Pizza’. The newly launched drone delivery service will be commercialized from Domino’s Pizza Sejong Boram Branch to Sejong Lake Park. The active cooperation of Sejong City, which was selected as a drone air city and a special zone, was supported. The operating period of the service is from August 22 to October 31, and deliveries are carried out 2 to 3 times per hour from 1 pm to 6 pm every Saturday and Sunday. Delivery may be suspended in case of bad weather conditions such as rain.

Consumers who want a pizza drone delivery service can make an order through the Domino’s Pizza official app near Sejong Lake Park. Delivery takes 6 to 9 minutes one way, and the location of the pizza you ordered can be checked in real time through your mobile phone. In order to prevent theft or loss, you must enter the password when you receive the pizza. Safety personnel were also deployed to prevent accidents.

The commercialization of this service is evaluated as an opportunity to change the transportation paradigm by creating new jobs and providing future mobility services in real life. In the meantime, the MOLIT has focused on developing various services to foster the domestic drone industry and is providing various supports. ‘P-Square’, which succeeded in the pizza drone delivery service, was also selected for the ‘drone regulation sandbox project’ and received government funding. With the success of the pizza delivery service using drones, more diverse drone services will be part of our daily life.
