Sushi Restaurant in Wangsimni
From now on, the weather is going to be colder and colder. Originally the autumn starts over from September to November, but actually the autumn in Korea is approaching at the end of September. As the weather changes slowly, I have recently fallen into the Sushi food without no reason. Therefore, I want to let you know where you can get into my favorite food in Wangsimni, which restaurant is known for its good taste, and which kinds of restaurant Wangsimni area has.
[Sushi Dokhu (스시도쿠)]
The actual name is like this photo above. However, I don’t know the Japanese letter, so I just call the name of restaurant as ‘Sushi Dokhu’, as Koreans say. The restaurant is really famous for its quality of Sushi. Even, I heard this restaurant through word-of-mouth. That’s why this place has been expended lately to a larger place.

Here is the menu of this restaurant. Even though I kept looking up the English version of menu, it looks like it does not exist anywhere. To help you to easily understand what food they are selling, I am going to tell you some of the main dishes which are popular among Koreans.
When we walk in Sushi restaurant, most of Koreans usually order ‘an assorted regular sushi’ (the picture above). It is composed of 12 pieces in total, and it costs 10000 Won. I’m not sure that which kinds of sushi is in it, but it looks like salmon, rolled omelet and shrimp would be coming out like the picture above.
And we added ‘an assorted deluxe sushi’ (the picture above) to the prior order. As the name refers to, each piece costs a little bit higher than regular one. You can recognize that there are salmon, tuna and shrimp seasoned with soy sauce. The total pieces of sushi in the deluxe one is the same with the regular one, but the price is 15000 Won. So I want to recommend that it would be a good choice if you order each menu that I just introduced, regular and deluxe one.
Of course, you can order flatfish, salmon sashimi or other side menus! For your convenience, just look at the photo that I uploaded above.

[Sushi & Salad Buffet (스시우마이)]
Here is the buffet style of Sushi restaurant. As you know, you are allowed to eat as much as you can, because it is the buffet style! So if you are a gourmand, going to a buffet restaurant could save more money, concerning about the money that you usually pay for at the normal restaurant. The following is the price depending on the time you go. Lunch on a weekday: 11900 Won, Dinner on a weekdays / Lunch or dinner in the weekend: 14900 Won / Children: 8900 Won
Not only the price, but also the diversity of food can be different depending on the time. Although it is more expensive to eat during the evening, you can try out much more various kinds of sushi. However, there is a thing that you have to keep in mind: Should finish eating food during 1 hour 20 mins. It means that there is a time limit! But it is enough time to fill your stomach full. So don’t be too stressed out!
Also, you can eat fried dish, tteokbokki (떡볶이), cookies as well as sushi without additional charge. That would be a merit when choosing the restaurant having that kind of style.
Location: Go out from the exit 6 at Wangsimni station and turn left at the first corner. Then go straight toward Hanyang hospital. It is located on the first basement floor. Don’t miss it!
[Youth Sushi (청춘초밥)]
This is the last place that I am going to introduce about sushi restaurants in Wangsimni. In my opinion, Youth Sushi is the most popular among undergraduate and graduate students attending Hanyang University. For sure, I have been there about four times since I was a freshman. And also the location of this restaurant is so convenient that we can easily find out where it is. The information regarding to the location is described at the bottom.
When I get there with a friend, I always order a set menu for two person, which is called ‘Couple set menu’. That set menu is composed of 20 pieces of sushi, two fried shrimp, steamed egg, small amount of salad, and two small cups of Udon (Japanese thick noodles; 우동). The price is also important for us! It costs 25000 Won in total. Refer to the right dish on the photo above!
However, if you don’t have enough money but still want to eat sushi, I recommend to pick up ‘Youth assorted sushi set menu(청춘모듬초밥)’. It is served with 12 pieces of sushi and a small cup of Udon. The price of this menu is 11000 Won. Check out the left dish on the photo above!
Furthermore, there are other menu including rice topped with raw fish and vegetables or assorted raw fish. And, you can pack your dish into a take-out box for leftovers!
