We are back with the continuation of the Korean Monster’s first win! In our last blog, we wrote about Ryu struggling with his pitches and getting a win on his card. In his latest game against the Doosan Bears at Jamsil stadium last Thursday, Ryu performed exceptionally well by locking things down on a 3-0 victory.
Ryu has pitched six innings and struck out 8 batters while making a season-high 94 pitches in the game. He also helped the Eagles to break their five-game losing streak which also broke the Bears 2 game winning streak. The game was not all going Ryu’s way he also struggled in the sixth inning where the Doosan Bears almost scored due to an error wild pitch. However, Ryu got cleaned it up by inducing flyouts from the Bears’ key hitters, Yang Eui-ji and Kim Jae-hwan.

Eagles beat Bears behind Ryu Hyun-jin’s excellent start to snap 5-game skid. (n.d.). https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/sports/2024/05/600_372536.html.
Moving on to the big leagues MLB, we have Ha-Seong Kim playing for the San Diego Padres, who has made a home run over the highest-paid pitcher in the MLB, Yoshinobu Yamamoto. It was in the second inning when Kim drilled Yamamoto’s pitch that was 95.1mph over the plate. The homer also helped the Padres gain a victory over the Dodgers with a score of 8-7.
Another favorite Korean superstar we will be talking about will be the grandson of the wind, Jung-Hoo Lee. Although his team (San Francisco Giants) has lost against the Tampa Bay Rays with a score of 2-1, Lee has actually performed decent where he was the only one who has scored for the Giants on a wild pitch. Moreover, Lee has extended his hitting streak to four games and will be looking for more in the following games.
