Trip to Gangneung

Hi, I am Dawon, and today, continuing with my last article on the ‘Trip to Busan’, I would like to share another place in Korea for your winter vacation plans. Gangneung is also a place with a beautiful beach but it is way cheaper and easier to go than Busan, so many students go on a one-night two-day trip. I also went there with my friends by KTX and it cost me 54000won and 3 hours. In this article, I will recommend some places that you might like to visit during your trip.

#1 Gangneung Joong-ang market It is a central market in Joong Ang and it is one of the must-go places in Gangneung for visitors. There are literally hundreds of foods to enjoy. The most famous foods are deep-fried and braised chicken, ice cream hotteok, and seafood croquettes. I tried all of them and not a single one failed to meet my expectations. One thing to be aware of is that there are not enough places to sit and eat so I recommend you to take away the food and enjoy it at your hotel. The prices at the market are generally cheap, so even though I bought a handful of food there, it cost me under 30,000won.

#2 Café Oceans It is a café located in Gangneung-si, that I went into by chance, but had a wonderful meal. The café is famous for its handmade burgers and soft tofu gelato. The way to the café is along the beach so for those who would like to enjoy the beach as well, this restaurant would be the perfect choice. The handmade burger was surprising in its size and taste, and for the soft tofu gelato, you must try this. At first, when I heard the name, I didn’t expect it to be good, but it turned out to be very soft, creamy, and rich in flavor. Other than its famous menus, there are other menus that a typical café has so you have a wide variety of choices.
