K-pop star group BTS was nominated for two categories at the ‘2020 American Music Awards’, the prestigious American music awards ceremony. On October 26th, the ‘American Music Awards’ announced of BTS’ nominations for the ‘Pop/Rock Genre Favorite Duo/Group’ and the ‘Favorite Social Artist’ category on the official website. Their competitors for the ‘pop/rock genre favorite duo/group’ are Jonas Brothers and Maroon 5, one of the most popular groups in the world.
The K-pop artists have been nominated for the category for three consecutive years until this year since they first won the ‘Favorite Social Artist’ at the ‘American Music Awards’ in 2018. At the ‘2019 American Music Awards’, they received trophies in all nominated categories, including ‘Favorite Social Artist’, ‘Pop/Rock Genre Favorite Duo/Group’ and, ‘Tour of the Year’, setting a new record for being the first Korean singer to win two years in a row. They are now throwing down the glove for three!
The ‘2020 American Music Awards’ is scheduled to be held on November 22nd and the spotlight is focused on whether BTS, who are nominated for the third consecutive year this year, can write a new history again. Meanwhile, BTS led the disco craze all over the world, ranking first on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with their digital single “Dynamite” released on August 21st and they are up to release a new album ‘BE (Deluxe Edition)’ on the 20th of November.
