Travel on Subway Line Number 4!

Today I’d like to introduce some variable places to go by taking subway line 4. It was built in 1985. Line number 4 also built for maximize the usage of line number 2. Line number 4 connects from Danggogae Station (당고개역) to Oido Station (오이도역). It connects the northeast part of Seoul to Gyeonggi Province (경기도).

First place is Platform Chang Dong 61 (플랫폼창동61). Platform Chang Dong 61 is a complex cultural space built with industrial shipping containers. Its name is a nod to the neighborhood and the number of containers that make up this complex. The interesting point is that Platform Chang Dong 61 was background of music video of ‘Signal’. ‘Signal’ is a hit song nowadays, sung by the most popular and hottest K-Pop girl group ‘Twice (트와이스)’.

The most famous part of Platform 61 is probably the music venue space, the Red Box. True to its name, the Red Box is a red industrial shipping container and it is Korea’s first dedicated shipping container music venue. Every month there are live music performances of all types, from traditional Gugak (국악) to hip-hop and indie music. Tickets are fairly affordable, usually ranging between 15,000 Won to 50,000 Won. Watching a music performance is a must, but there are also different classes and workshops offered as well as great shopping and food. In addition to live music and shopping, the tasty and affordable food offered by Platform Chang Dong 61’s restaurants are not to be missed!

Second place is Letsrun Park Seoul. It is a racecourse. Many people visit here and bet their horse and watch horseracing. Actually, horseracing is gambling so it is hard to visit here if you are not doing gambling. However, nowadays, Letsrun Park Seoul is not just a place for gambling. It became one of the main spotainment palces in Seoul. Letsrun Park Seoul made ‘Nol Rounge’ last January. It is a place that you can experience various activities related to horse. At Playzone, you can take VR horseriding simulation that you can experience 4D horseriding, which makes you feel that you really ride a orse. Also, there is ‘Secret way’ program, which you can visit horse house, hospital, etc. In addition, at ‘Horse history zone’, there is interactive screen which uses action recognition sensor. As you can see, Letsrun Park Seoul (레츠런 서울숲) is not just watching horseriding but also sportainment places. You can experience various new programs by visiting Letsrun Park Seoul (사진 7,8,9,10)

Third place is Oido Island. Oido Island, located on the southwestern most corner of Siheung, Gyeonggi Province (경기도 시흥시). Interesting point is that you can’t find at Oido Station. You should take 30-2 bus to visit Oido Island. At Oido Island, there is a fishery market. You can enjoy various seafoods at market. Also, there are 2 landmark in Oido. One is red lighthouse. It is made in 2005. Many people take picture at lighthouse. The other is tree of life observatory. It is near red lighthouse. It is artistic sculpture which has meaning related to environment. It turns on light at night so it is good to take a picture. Also, Oido Island is famous for sunset. It is good for you to visit Oido Island and enjoy beautiful sunset.

Fourth place is North Seoul Dream Forest (북서울꿈의숲). It is different from Dream Forest which locates near Hanyang University (한양대역). It is near from Mia Sageori Station (미아사거리역). You can visit North Seoul Dream Forest by taking bus Gangbuk 09,11 at Mia Sageori Station. North Seoul Dream Forest is a very huge park in Seoul. It is the fourth largest park in Seoul. There are huge lake, many cherry blossom and maple trees. Also, there is an observatory that you can see Bukhansan Mountain (북한산), Dobongsan Mountain (도봉산), Hangang River (한강). This observatory was also seen at ‘Iris (아이리스)’, a famous drama in 2009. North Seoul Dream Forest is good to take a picnic at nice weather.
