Love Land on Jeju Island

On Jeju Island there is a wide assortment of activities and attractions, some simple and some quite strange. One of the strange and surprising attractions Jeju has to offer is Love Land. It is an art park themed around eroticism. Love Land opened in 2004 and the main collaborators for the park were graduates of top art school, Hongik University. Love Land is a controversial museum in nature, but in reality it is a harmless outdoor museum that appreciates erotic love, incorporates humor into the spectacular works of art and offers educational exhibits. However, Love Land is by no means for everyone. It is a fun way to spend part of your day if you are looking to have a good laugh with your friends or significant other and visit the only park of its kind in Asia. If you want to be extremely uncomfortable I recommend going with your parents. ;)

Visiting Love Land:

Love Land is about a 10-minute cab ride from Jeju International Airport. There is a bus line that travels there, it is the line headed to Chuksanjinheungwon and you get off at Dokkabi Road and walk to Love Land’s entrance. I recommend a cab because it is quicker and only costs 10,000 Won each way. The park is open from 9:00-24:00 but the last entrance is at 23:00. You must be 20 years old to enter and the fee is 9,000 Won. There is a cafe that serves snacks and ice cream inside the park and a couple small restaurants outside. If you happen to go with anyone that has children, there is a small day care for the children to play in while the adults tour. Even though the park is open until 24:00, it would be wise to go in the daytime; it is a large park with beautiful landscaping and you will not get the same view in the dark…if you know what I mean. The park will take you under an hour to tour and pictures and touching or posing with the artwork is permitted.

Before you leave:

Make sure to visit the parks 2 gift shops that offer completely normal souvenirs, like postcards and penis keychains, and very strange souvenirs words cannot fully describe. The favorite souvenir of my friends and I was the chocolate. The gift shop offers a large selection of chocolate with different positions on it. Enjoy!
