It’s that time of the year again and we are all looking forward to the exchanging of presents. But if you are on exchange in Korea, you’d probably want to take home something more colorful, traditional and maybe a bit quirky. So we have made a list of suggestions for you. This article will feature only presents for our precious ladies. In the next series we will cover presents for the gentlemen and some food, drinks, and exotic presents.
What we have in mind for the ladies is, naturally, cosmetics. Korea is the Mecca for beauty care so why not surprise your female friends or family members with something from the hundreds of shops fulfilling these needs? In the Western world it might be quite exotic to use creams with snail or bee extract but here it’s just part of the culture.
One of our favorite places is Nature Republic. They have a various selection of treats. Whilst it may be relatively hard to find the exact makeup tones for a lady, facial creams and body lotions are universal. So here are some suggestions:
- Snail Solution 70 cream special set. This is an anti-aging and wrinkle set consisting of facial cream, skin booster and emulsion. The shop usually has promotions on it. It could be either half price or 1+1 with the original price being around $60. Sounds like a good present for mum, doesn’t it?
- Your female friends would definitely enjoy the mask sheets they offer. There are around ten different types such as bamboo, mango, seaweed, rice, and honey and kelp. Again, there is always a promotion in place, so you can buy a few packets (they come in a ten-pack) and mix and match for a few different friends.
- Hawaiian Fresh clay pack is a pore cleaning mask that you can combine with the Aqua peeling gel and Aqua moisture cream for a complete facial care set. It will cost you around $20 including the discount.
If you decided to buy lots of cosmetics our advice is to buy everything at once because the more you pay, the better free gifts you get. At the moment they are giving away Cell Boosting as well as Snail Solution trial kits, so take the opportunity.
You can find Nature Republic everywhere you go, but keep in mind that the sections they have in E-mart are very small so there is not that much of a choice. They have a branch in Insadong (인사동) where the staff are very kind; they speak good English and can recommend you products.
