“3! 2! 1! BUNGEE!” Many people have bungee jumping as one of the top things on their bucket list, so why not cross it off while in Korea!
There are a few spots to bungee jump, including Yuldong Park, which is the bungee jumping location this article will be about. Yuldong Park (율동공원) is located in the Bundang district of Seongnam-si (성남시 분당구), and you can easily get there by public transportation.
The bungee jumping takes place on a 45 meter tall tower, with the jump platform being 43 meters high. The tower is situated over a lake, which is what you will bungee jump “into”. The cost to bungee jump is W25,000.
The bungee jumping process is simple, though you may want to call ahead of time to make a reservation just to be sure you can bungee jump on your requested day. Before bungee jumping, you will have to fill a form with your name, birthday, and address. You will also have to read the instructions and sign the form. (The form basically indicates that they are not responsible for any injuries or other consequences, and that you are healthy enough to jump.) Then, the staff there will get you into your jumping gear, and then weigh you. Afterwards, you’ll take the elevator up to the jumping tower.
At the jumping tower, the staff will instruct you how to jump, and you can practice jumping onto a mat. They will also give you further instructions on which side of the tower you will be jumping off of (the right side or left side), and any other precautions. Then it’s bungee jumping time!
Once your jump has been completed, there will be a staff member rowing a raft underneath you, where you will land and get transported back to the dock. You return your jumping gear, and you get a little receipt that has your name and the date printed on it that you can keep as a souvenir.
Be sure to go with friends! You’re not allowed to bring any phones or cameras, so take turns and have some friends waiting below who can film and take pictures for you!
Directions:
Take the Bundang subway line to Seohyeon Station, exit #2. From there, take Bus 15 or 15-1, and get off at Jangan Middle School. From there, walk 700 meters forward and you will arrive at Yuldong Park.
