Mini Malaysia in South Korea

Nadiah’s Article

Despite being far away from family and friends, about 4000km to be exact, we,
Malaysians still love to be a close-knit community. Students who have worked hard
and earned good grades to study here are a part of the student community in South
Korea known as PPMK, which stands for ‘Persatuan Pelajar Malaysia Korea’ which
translates to Malaysian Student Association in Korea. Pretty straight to the point.
PPMK alongside the Embassy of Malaysia provide all kinds of fun activities and
programs for Malaysian students to partake in together outside of their universities.
One very notable event, which is held twice a year, is called ‘Kasuma’ which is
essentially a Malaysian student’s sports day! Every semester they would open slots
for certain sports and students are allowed to participate freely. Students are
categorized into age groups and compete with seniors and juniors alike!
It’s a whole-day event, it usually starts early in the morning and ends around the
evening. This Kasuma I participated in the telematch and we won third place! After
all the games, everyone gathered together to watch the prize-giving ceremony. And
of course, the picture session always comes last! The picture below is my batch
mates and me, batch 21!
